Paid $320 for a fuel pressure test kit, and it just saved me from a $900 shop mistake

Bought the kit last month after my F-150 started stalling on the 405, and it turned out my fuel pump was fine but the relay was corroded, has anyone else had a cheap relay fool them like that?

Digging into that relay first was probably the smartest $320 you ever spent. It's funny how we always jump to the worst and most expensive part, but it's the little cheap stuff that bites you nine times out of ten. I've seen the same thing with AC units, people replace the whole compressor when it's just a $15 capacitor. That pattern holds true for so much in life, not just trucks. You end up trusting your tools more than your first guess, and that alone is worth the money.
