Noticed a pattern at a Denver salvage yard with 2016-2018 GM trucks

Spent last Saturday at a Pick-n-Pull near Denver looking for a tailgate latch for my Silverado. There were six trucks from those years in the yard, all with the same rear brake line rusted through near the frame clip. I talked to the guy running the counter and he said they see it constantly, especially on trucks that spent winters up north. Checked mine when I got home, sure enough it was starting to flake in the exact same spot. Just a heads up for anyone running those years, worth a 5 minute look before it leaves you on the side of the road. Anyone else notice a specific part that fails the same way on certain models?

That whole "same spot on every truck" thing sounds more like people just repeating what they heard at the counter, not any real pattern. I've got a 2017 Silverado that's been through five Colorado winters and my brake lines are fine. The guy at the salvage yard wants to sell you a story because he's got six trucks sitting there and he knows that's the easiest excuse for why they ended up there in the first place. Salt and road grime hit every vehicle the same way, so if it was truly a design flaw you'd see it on every brand and model in that yard, not just GM trucks. Honestly, most of those trucks probably got traded in or written off for crashes or engine problems, and the rust is just what you notice after the fact. I'd say check your lines sure, but don't start blaming the truck when a little corrosion is just what happens to any vehicle that spends time on winter roads.
