Rant: dropped $70 on a 'planetary filter kit' off a Facebook ad and the pics came out worse than my phone
Tried it on Saturn from my driveway in Boise last week and it just turned the whole frame into a muddy orange blob no matter how I stacked the shots. Did I just get a junk set or am I using these things completely wrong?
Stop blaming the filters and look at what is actually going on with your setup. A muddy orange blob usually means the filter is doing its job by blocking light, but your camera settings and stacking are not keeping up with the dimmer image. Cheap kits do cut quality, but a $70 set can still work if you fix your exposure and learn how to process the data properly.
