Question about people posting phone pics of the moon and calling it astrophotography

What's the actual goal, to share a cool moment or to make a technically perfect image? A phone pic is fine for the first one, but it's not the same as stacking tracked exposures.

Totally get what you're saying, but that split feels off to me. A cool moment and a great photo aren't two different goals. The best pictures do both. Phone shots are fine for a quick share, but putting in the work for a tracked shot is how you really keep that moment alive. It's not about being perfect, it's about doing the scene justice.
