Paid $250 for a ground-penetrating radar survey on my property before digging a well. Saved me from hitting an unmarked burial site.

The survey showed three anomalies that turned out to be old Indigenous graves from way before the town was even founded. Has anyone else dealt with surprise archaeological finds when doing construction or landscaping?

I saw a news article about a guy in Arizona who hit a 1000 year old kiva digging a pool.

Damn, that's kind of a bummer though lol. I mean yeah it's cool you didn't hit the graves but now you gotta deal with all that red tape and can't dig where you wanted. I know a guy who found old bottles and jars from the 1800s digging a foundation in Philly and the city made him stop work for three months while archaeologists sifted through everything. Cost him way more than $250 in delays and backhoe rental fees. Sometimes ignorance really is bliss when it comes to this stuff.
