Just saw a site in Turkey getting wrecked by rain

Last week I was looking at pictures from a dig in Catalhoyuk, Turkey. Three years ago they found a new section of wall paintings there, really well kept. But last month, heavy rain hit the area hard. The team posted photos showing water damage on the lower levels of the site. It's not just mud, the water is getting into the old brick and plaster. They said a specific part of the excavation, Sector 114, has new cracks. They're trying to cover things with tarps, but it's a race. It made me think about how many sites are just one bad storm away from losing stuff we haven't even found yet. Has anyone else seen a site take a big hit from weather recently?

That "one bad storm" idea is terrifying.
