Ugh, same thing happened to my Quadra last year... still bummed about it.

Losing a Quadra stings extra because they stopped making them, so parts get harder to find every year. When mine died I posted the whole thing on a forum for old gear and got a guy two states over who had a parts unit, cost me $80 for stuff the shops wanted $400 to order. @the_luna if you still have the body, hang onto it, people do buy dead ones for the case and knobs alone. Wish I'd known that before I let mine go for scrap.
