S-video beats composite on my 1992 Sony Trinitron, no debate
Everyone in here swears by component cables for old consoles, but my N64 and SNES look way better through S-video on my 1992 KV-27S42. I tested both side by side with Super Mario World last week and the color bleed just disappears on S-video. Component might be fine for systems from the 2000s, but for 240p stuff this is the sweet spot. Anyone else running S-video on their CRT or am I the odd one out?
Yeah the color bleed thing is the whole ballgame on those systems. Composite basically smears reds all over the place and once you see it on S-video you can't unsee it. The bigger point is that most N64 and SNES models can't even output real component without a mod, so people acting like it's a simple choice are kidding themselves. S-video was built for this era of hardware and it shows. Your Trinitron has a comb filter doing work on composite too, so if S-video looks better even on that set, that tells you everything.
