I tried replacing a CRT monitor cap kit with cheap caps and then bought a quality brand set last month

The cheap $10 kit made the image wobble like crazy after two weeks but the $25 Nichicon set from an old parts shop in Portland has been dead stable for three months now, has anyone else noticed that the cheaper stuff just doesn't hold up on vintage gear?

Read a teardown blog where the guy tested cheap caps and found the actual capacitance was way below spec, like 30% off in some cases. Makes you wonder what else is getting skimped on with those kits.

Oh man, my buddy Mike threw some cheap caps in an old Amiga 500 and it started smoking after a week. The good stuff is the only way to go for old gear.
