Colleague's ancient laptop meltdown during a big presentation

We were in a client meeting when his old Toshiba from the 90s started smoking. He blamed it on 'new software' but we all saw the floppy disk drive was on fire. What's the wildest antique tech fail you've witnessed?

The floppy disk drive on fire is a wild image from that story. @noah_williams66 is right about built-in drives, but the whole machine could have been overheating. Old tech failing always makes a big scene.

Wasn't the floppy drive usually inside those old laptops? I remember them being built in, not something you could see burning.
