Switched from watching dubbed to subbed anime after 10 years and it felt like a whole new show
I used to only watch anime with English dubs because I could multitask while cooking or cleaning. But about 6 months ago, I tried watching Attack on Titan in Japanese with subtitles because my friend kept insisting the voice acting was better. Turns out she was totally right - the emotions hit way harder and I caught details I'd missed before. Now I'm rewatching my old favorites from 2015 with subs and it's like experiencing them for the first time. Has anyone else had that moment where switching languages changed how you felt about a show?
Nah I actually prefer dubs most of the time, I get that the Japanese voice acting is usually better but I just can't focus on the screen the whole time and reading subs kills the vibe for me.
@jakewhite yeah the "reading subs kills the vibe" thing is real. I started watching more dubs when I got into working out and wanted something to play in the background while lifting. No way I can read subs while doing curls lol.
