Sub or Dub? I picked sub for a whole season and almost lost the plot

Back in March I decided to watch a 12 episode mecha show entirely subbed because everyone online swore the dub was trash. By episode 7 I realized I had been mixing up two characters' names the whole time and had zero idea who was betraying who. I went back and watched the dub version of the finale just to sort out the ending, and honestly the voice acting was fine. Now I'm stuck wondering if I should rewatch the whole thing again or just accept my confused version of events. Has anyone else ruined a series for themselves by stubbornly sticking to one format?

Wait you watched the ENTIRE first half thinking two characters were the same person? That is wild. I'm trying to picture episode 7 you sitting there like "huh, this guy sure does get around" while the plot is happening to two totally different people. Honestly the fact that you made it to episode 7 before figuring it out is kind of impressive in a painful way. The betrayal angle makes it so much worse too because that's the whole point of those shows, you have to know who is backstabbing who. I'd say just rewatch the sub now that you know who everyone is, it'll feel like a brand new show and you already put in the work. Or watch the dub since you liked it, no shame in that, at least you'll actually follow the story this time.
