My buddy swore I'd regret skipping the dub for Hunter x Hunter

He said I'd miss character nuances reading subtitles, but I was 60 episodes deep before I realized he watches everything at 1.5x speed, so I dunno if I trust his take on pacing anymore. Anybody else have a friend who gives anime advice but has weird watching habits?

Wait, 1.5x speed on everything? That's wild. I get skipping filler sometimes but not the whole show. My guy does that too though. Watched all of One Piece in like two months. Claims he "got the gist." Makes me question his whole take on shows. Your buddy probably missed half the emotional beats in HxH at that speed.

Dude I did this back in college too. Crammed like 6 episodes a night after class and finished it in about 3 months. Honestly still hit me hard cause I was so into it the whole time.
