Rant: I hit the 10,000 charge cycle mark on my 2012 MacBook Pro and it's still kicking

I was just messing around in coconutBattery today and saw my old 2012 MacBook Pro hit 10,023 charge cycles. That's just insane to me, most modern laptops don't even make it to 1,000 before the battery swells or dies. It's got its original battery still inside and I get about 1.5 hours on a full charge now, but for a machine I use daily to run my cleaning business schedule and QuickBooks it's a tank. Has anyone else seen numbers this high on their ancient gear or am I just lucky with this one?

OK but let's be real here. That 1.5 hour battery life is basically useless for anything portable, so you might as well be using it plugged into the wall at all times which makes it just a heavy desktop. Modern laptops do fail faster but they also give you 8-10 hours of real work time for YEARS before they start to go. You got lucky with one part surviving a long time but the rest of that machine is a slow, hot, low-res dinosaur most people would have replaced ages ago.

And yeah @ninas70, you're probably right that I'm basically just a crazy person who kept a museum piece running for the sake of it. My friends called it "The Hoveround" because it was so heavy and loud. But honestly, that old thing surviving my clumsiness and spills just made me stubborn about keeping it going.
