My 35mm fixer solution turned completely pink after just 2 rolls of film

Mixed a fresh batch of Ilford Rapid Fixer, developed one roll of Tri-X and one of Portra 400, and when I went to reuse it the next day it had gone bright pink with a sulfur smell, so now I'm wondering if my water has too much chlorine in it or if this fixer was just old stock from the shop?

yeah that sulfur smell is a bad sign, I just toss it and mix fresh batch

Read somewhere that sulfur usually means bacteria got in there, not worth the risk.
