The door contact placement I swore by was backwards this whole time

I used to mount recessed contacts on the hinge side of doors because it was easier to drill. Last month a customer in Phoenix had a false alarm every time the wind blew, and after 3 service calls I realized the magnet gap was too big on the strike side. Swapped them to the strike side and it's been solid for 3 weeks now. Anyone else find that manufacturers should put a diagram in the box for this, or is it just me?
