Panel firmware update bricked my keypad for 2 days, finally fixed it

Went to a job in Austin last Friday, a simple keypad swap on an older panel. Hooked up my laptop to push the latest firmware, and mid update the power flickered for half a second. After that the keypad went dead, no lights, no beeps, nothing. Spent 4 hours that day and 6 more the next trying default resets, new power supplies, even swapping the keypad. Turns out the panel stored a corrupt boot file and I had to pull the EEPROM and program it with a spare chip I found in my van. Has anyone else had a firmware crash wipe out a whole zone lineup like that? What's your go to recovery trick?
