I used to think hardwired was always better than wireless for sensors, but a job in a 1920s house changed my mind.

The plaster walls were like concrete and the owner didn't want any damage. I was about to turn it down, but my partner pulled out some newer wireless contacts. He said the battery life is now over 5 years and the signal was solid through the whole place. We got the whole first floor done in one afternoon with zero holes. Now I keep a kit in the van for those tricky old homes. What's the oldest building you've had to work on?

Plaster walls like concrete" is the real test. I did a place from the 1890s where the owner wanted me to drill into the original horsehair plaster. I told him my drill bit would probably start crying. Wireless saved that relationship.
