Shoutout to my old lead mechanic for the torque check tip
I was cleaning out my toolbox last week and found a note from a guy named Hank who trained me six years ago at a shop in Phoenix. He wrote "check your torque before you walk away" on a sticky note and it was stuck to my torque wrench. I remember one day we were working on a 737 flap actuator and I nearly forgot to re-torque a bolt after a final check. He caught it and said the same thing with a grin. That little habit has saved me from redoing jobs more times than I can count. Anyone else got a random piece of advice from an old timer that stuck with you?

Hank's advice reminds me how the best lessons in any trade are usually the simplest ones, and they apply to everything from fixing things to planning your day. That "check before you walk away" rule is just good sense for anything that needs to be done right the first time.
