Old timer at a hangar in Savannah showed me something I still think about

He walked up during my first engine change on a 727, pointed at a worn torque wrench and said 'son, trust the click not your arm.' Been thinking about that ever since. Any other old-school tips you guys still use?

Honestly I get the sentiment but I feel like sometimes people overhype these little moments. It's a torque wrench, not life advice from a sage or something.

My dad's been a mechanic for 30 years and he always says the same thing when he hands someone a tool. It's just a wrench until you understand the tension it's measuring, then it's a lesson in paying attention to details that actually matter. We do the same thing with random objects all the time, turning a simple thing into a moment that sticks with you.
