The air fryer basket at my friend's place in Austin had a layer of old grease I could scrape with a fork

I visited last week and offered to make wings, but when I opened the drawer it looked like a science experiment, so I asked if she'd ever soaked it and she said 'what for?', has anyone else seen this level of neglect or am I just lucky mine gets a vinegar bath every 2 weeks?
