Rant: My air fryer almost caught fire because of a frozen pizza

I was at my apartment in Austin last night, trying to cook one of those frozen pizzas that says 'air fryer friendly' on the box. I set it for 400 degrees, and after about 5 minutes, I saw smoke pouring out. The cheese had melted off and dripped straight onto the heating element. I yanked the plug, threw the whole basket in the sink, and ran the water. Has anyone else had a frozen pizza totally fail in the air fryer? What brand actually works?

My old apartment in Phoenix had the same problem with the Red Baron french bread pizzas... the grease just pools and drips. I started putting a piece of foil on the bottom rack to catch the mess, but it blocks the air flow so the top doesn't get as crispy. It's a lose-lose situation with a lot of those frozen brands.

Honestly sounds like user error. Those air fryer pizzas are designed for that heat. Probably overloaded the basket or didn't preheat. My cheap grocery store brand works fine every time. Just gotta watch it and maybe shake the basket once. People blame the appliance but it's usually how you use it.
