I stopped oiling my fries for the air fryer, game changer

I always put oil on my fries before cooking them. Giving that up made them crispier and less greasy. Why does everyone act like you need oil for good fries?

Wait, so if oil helps with browning like @hunt.pat says, how are your fries getting crispy without it? My fries always came out kinda soggy when I skipped oil, so I'm curious about your method. Are you using a certain type of potato or cooking them longer? Maybe my air fryer just runs cooler than yours.

Oil helps fries brown and get crispy by conducting heat evenly. Your air fryer works without it, but oil adds flavor and better texture. Going oil-free is a personal choice, not a must for everyone.

But does it really need oil to brown well?
