Why does nobody talk about the hidden fees in AI transcription services?

I signed up for a popular AI note-taking tool last spring to transcribe my client meetings, and I ended up paying $87 extra in overage charges before I even noticed the fine print. The free tier sounded great, but the minute I hit 30 minutes of audio per month, it switched me to a paid plan without a clear warning. I called their support line in Austin, and they said it was in the terms I agreed to, which I admit I never read closely. Has anyone else been burned by surprise charges like this, and do you have a cheaper alternative that just works?
