My local gallery in Portland had a show last month that changed my mind on AI art.

They displayed a series of AI-generated portraits next to the artist's initial sketches, and the final digital paintings were way more detailed and emotional. I always thought AI art was just a cheap trick, but seeing the process from a rough idea to a finished piece made me realize there's real creative work involved. Has anyone else had an experience that flipped their opinion on this?

Totally get where you're coming from. I felt the same way until I saw a friend use it to build on her own paintings. It clicked for me that it's just another tool, not a replacement.

Honestly, it's like being mad at power tools because they make building a deck easier. My friend uses it to fix her wonky sketches and it's a game changer. People just get weird about new things.
