DAE get told your AI art looks like 'a machine ate a paint store'? A guy named Ray at the Des Moines meetup said that to my face
Ray runs a traditional oil painting booth and he wasn't trying to be mean, he said my stuff had no focal point because I was letting the model decide where the eye goes. I started picking one subject per piece and masking everything else down to basically nothing, like 20 percent opacity, and suddenly people stopped asking if it was AI. My prompt didn't change at all, just where I put the light. Has anyone else gotten feedback that had nothing to do with the tool and everything to do with basics you skipped?

Had the same thing happen with my guitar playing years back, some old guy at a open mic told me I was hiding behind effects pedals instead of just learning to play clean. He was right and it took me a while to admit it. Sometimes the tool gets blamed for stuff that's really just missing basics.
