Can we talk about the local art fair last weekend?
Last year, maybe one in ten booths had any AI stuff, and it was mostly weird landscapes. This year, half the prints were AI, and a guy was selling a series of 'painted' portraits he made with Midjourney in an afternoon. I asked if he did the work, and he said 'the prompt is the art.' So, is the person typing words now the same as someone who spent a decade learning to paint?

Honestly it feels like a weird thing to get mad about. People have been arguing about new tools in art forever, like photography or digital painting. It's just another thing to sort out.

Tbh the photography comparison gets thrown around a lot. But does it really fit? Cameras didn't copy a million existing photos to make a new one. What's your take on that being the core difference people are upset about?

Totally saw that too, it was everywhere. The guy next to the food trucks had a whole wall of AI fantasy characters, all the same shiny style. Makes you wonder what's even the point of the fair anymore.
