My tripod leg snapped right in the middle of an old factory floor
I was trying to get a steady shot of this massive, rusted machine in Detroit and the whole thing just folded. Had to balance my camera on a pile of bricks for the rest of the shoot. Anyone have a good brand that can handle uneven ground?

Can't believe it snapped on a factory floor, that's rough. Evan151 is right about needing legs that move on their own for spots like that.

Man that's the worst, did the leg just buckle or did it actually crack? I've had cheap tripods fold on me in weird spots and it's always a pain. For uneven ground you really need something with legs that can move on their own, not just the center column. I've been using a Manfrotto with the independent leg locks and it's solid on pretty much any surface.
