Grandpa's gas station sign finally made sense to me
Stopped at a diner outside Scranton that still has a 1959 Sinclair sign out front. Saw the old dinosaur logo and realized how much branding has changed since then. Anyone else got a favorite old gas station ad from back then?

Man, that dinosaur logo takes me back. But here's the thing nobody talks about, those old stations didn't just sell gas, they sold trust. My grandpa used to say you could tell a lot about a town by who ran the local Sinclair or Texaco, like they were the mayor or something. The logos were almost like badges of honor for the whole community. You don't get that with the generic chains now, it's just the same boring sign on every corner. Makes you wonder if we lost more than the artwork, we lost that personal connection.
