Found a 1957 grocery receipt in my grandma's cookbook

I was going through my grandma's old cookbook last weekend and a grocery receipt from 1957 fell out. Total for a week's worth of food for a family of four was $12.37. That's about $135 today with inflation, which honestly isn't that far off from what I spend. What surprised me most was that a dozen eggs cost 28 cents back then, and now they're like $5 in my town in Ohio. Has anyone else found old receipts that changed how you think about prices then vs now?

Read eggs were crazy cheap back then, heard some old timer say it was before factory farms took over.

My granddad used to tell me about getting eggs for pocket change at the corner store in the 50s. Said they came straight from a guy down the road with a few chickens, no government stamps or anything. Makes you wonder how much changed in just one generation. Now I pay $8 for a carton that lasts me a week and a half, and half the time they're already cracked.
