Found a 1954 diner menu in my grandma's attic and the prices made me laugh out loud
A full turkey dinner with dessert cost 85 cents at a place in Des Moines, and the ad on the back calls coffee "the smart morning habit" for only a dime. Does anyone else collect these old menus, or am I the only one weirdly obsessed with what a nickel could buy?
What part of the country was that Des Moines spot in, like downtown or a truck stop off the highway? And does the back have any other weird ads besides the coffee one? Old menus are such a time capsule for how people actually ate back then.
