Heard a roofer say most people don't check their attic vents before replacing shingles

Was getting a quote from a guy in Columbus last week and he pointed out my ridge vent was completely clogged with dust and insulation. Said I could have spent $8k on new shingles and still had moisture problems in 2 years. I climbed up there with a shop vac and cleared it out in 20 minutes. Anybody else had an attic ventilation issue pop up mid project?

Yeah my buddy had a similar thing happen with his place in Cincinnati. He replaced his whole roof and a year later the ceiling started staining. Turns out the soffit vents were completely blocked because the original builders packed insulation right up against them.
