Rant: Old timers brewed beer with guts, not gadgets

My dad's crew made killer batches with just a bucket and a song. Now folks act like you need a lab coat to start a simple ferment.

That bit about brewing with a bucket and a song really hit home. My uncle used to make wine in his dusty garage with a cracked plastic tub and an old towel over the top. The whole place would smell like fruit and yeast for weeks, and you could hear the bubbles popping if you put your ear close. Never measured a thing, just went by taste and guesswork. Honestly some of the best stuff I've ever had, makes all the fancy gear now seem like overkill.

That bit about fancy gear being overkill is so real. Seems like every good simple thing gets ruined once people start adding expensive junk to it.
