Watching hair grow back messy changed my view on split end jobs

I only fix split ends when doing a full haircut now.

That's actually such a real way to see it. You notice the same kind of thing with other maintenance cycles, like fixing one cracked tile while the whole floor is old, or doing a single workout after months off. The small fix just gets undone fast if the bigger base isn't sorted. It makes you stop wanting to put band-aids on things and just deal with the real problem.

Our old apartment had this one outlet that kept shorting. I must have replaced the faceplate three times before realizing the wiring in the whole wall was from like the 1960s. That's when it clicks that you're not fixing anything, you're just doing busy work. It happens with big stuff too, like a company trying new rules while the boss is still toxic. The surface change never sticks because the foundation is still broken.
