Rant: A contractor in Dallas told me I was 'just the glass guy'

He said it while I was setting a big custom shower panel, acting like my job was just to drop it in after the real work was done. It stuck with me because a proper install needs to know the framing and waterproofing, not just the glass. Ever had someone act like your part of the build doesn't matter?

Ugh, that's the worst. I had a builder call me "the tile girl" once. I just started pointing out stuff in a real calm voice, like how the curb wasn't level or the membrane looked thin in a corner. Asked him direct questions about his prep work. He got real quiet real fast. It shifts the talk from titles to the actual job that needs doing. Sometimes they just need a reminder you're looking at the whole picture.

Honestly, that's such a good way to handle it. Tbh, I've found the same thing works with some mechanics. They'll start with the "little lady" talk and I'll just ask real specific questions about torque specs or part numbers. Ngl, watching the bluster fade out is kinda satisfying. It's like you're just politely refusing to play their game and suddenly it's all business.
