Pro tip: My silicone disaster taught me to stick with putty

Honestly, silicone sealant is overrated for interior glass work. Tbh, I had a client's bay window leak because the silicone shrank after a year. Ngl, fixing it for free hurt my wallet and my pride. Now I only use traditional putty, even if it sets slower. Most guys will argue, but putty gives a seal that actually lasts.

Wow, river_hart18's shower door story hits home. My neighbor had a similar mess with his sunroom windows, and the putty fix has held for years now. Makes you wonder why silicone is still the go-to for so many jobs.

Had a leaky shower door from silicone that failed after six months. Switching to putty was a game changer for me! It might take longer to cure, but the seal stays flexible and doesn't pull away from the glass. Plus, putty is easier to tool and clean up if you make a mistake. Never going back to silicone for window or door seals now!

Read that putty handles movement better.
