Read an industry report that backs this up. Idle time is just burning money and fuel for no reason.

Idle time does waste fuel, but sometimes it's needed for safety checks lol.

Look at the bigger picture though. That fuel burn keeps systems ready to go. Prevents way bigger costs from cold starts and breakdowns. It's not just about a quick safety check. Sometimes idling is the cheaper option overall.
