But will that give you the right numbers? A bathroom scale isn't really made for that kind of precision. You could end up with tools that are way off.

Yeah but julia843 has a point, a bathroom scale is for people, not tools. That little difference in weight could throw off your whole project. I tried something like that once and my cuts were all wrong. It's worth getting the right tool for the job, even if it costs a bit more.

That's actually a super clever workaround! We've all been there trying to save a buck on proper tool calibration. Nice thinking outside the box.
