Serious question, how do you track your freelance money without going crazy?

I kept forgetting who paid me and what bills were due. Last quarter, I almost bounced a check because I lost an invoice. So I made a plain list in a text file for all my jobs and costs. It's ugly but now I know where every dollar is. This simple fix stopped my money stress cold.

In 2023, I gave each project a three-letter code in a simple app. All cash in and out gets logged under that code, so I can filter and see each job's profit quick. I check it every Friday for 10 mins, and it stops tax season from being a nightmare. No more lost invoices or missed payments.
