I caved and bought the fancy project management tool after a disaster

I was sitting at my kitchen table in Austin last Tuesday when my client emailed about a missed deadline I had completely forgotten to track. My spreadsheet had a formula error hiding the date change, and I ended up losing $400 in rush fees to make it right. Has anyone else switched from free tools to paid ones after a specific mess up?

Four hundred dollars is a pricey spreadsheet lesson, what software did you get?

yeah i used to be one of those people who thought you could just learn everything from youtube for free. but honestly after i finally broke down and bought something decent it clicked way better. the structured lessons and having someone actually explain the logic behind formulas instead of just showing you keystrokes made a huge difference. sometimes paying for it forces you to actually sit through it too instead of skipping around. not saying everyone needs to drop that much but for me it was worth it.
