Mold prep shortcuts are causing more scrap in our shop
Caught a trend in our casting rejects. Multiple pieces failing at the seams. Found out some crews skip mold drying steps. Management pushes for faster turnarounds. This leads to wasted metal and safety risks.

Reminds me of the time I tried to skip preheating the oven... ended up with a brick instead of bread. Drying those molds is the same kind of basic step... ignore it and the whole job fails. Management breathing down your neck for speed makes people do dumb things... but all that rushed work just comes back as scrap. You waste metal and now you're dealing with safety issues too... like cracks waiting to happen. Doing the job right might seem slow... but it's way faster than doing everything twice. We keep learning this lesson the hard way... and still act surprised when the shortcut blows up.

Ugh, this is everywhere. Skip the basics to save a minute now, pay for it ten times over later. It's like building a deck without letting the concrete dry, or rushing a cake out of the oven. The whole thing falls apart. Management sees a schedule but not the process, so they push. Then everyone acts shocked when the foundation fails. It's a shortcut that ends up being the longest, most expensive route.
