Trying to build a simple flower drying rack and it collapsed overnight

Honestly, I woke up to dried lavender scattered all over my laundry room.

What materials did you build it with? I saw a tutorial once that stressed using sturdy wood like pine instead of balsa for the frame. They mentioned that wet flowers can get surprisingly heavy, so the rack needs to hold up under that load. (Honestly, my first attempt used cheap dowels and it buckled in a similar way.)

Is it really that big of a deal? I used some old scrap wood from a pallet for mine and it's been fine for months, even with dripping wet bunches. Maybe people are just overbuilding these things.

Oh man, I feel like we've all been there with the cheap materials thing. In my experience, pine is definitely the way to go for something like this. I tried using balsa once for a plant stand, and let's just say it didn't end well. The whole thing basically sighed and gave up. Wet flowers are no joke, they can weigh a ton, so you really need that sturdy frame.
