The wedding at the Grandview Hotel that made me triple-check my delivery times
I had a massive bridal bouquet and centerpiece delivery for a 4pm ceremony at the Grandview Hotel last Saturday. My driver got stuck in a detour from a parade on Main Street and arrived at 3:58pm. The coordinator was literally tapping her watch, and the bride was in a full panic. I had to eat a 15% late fee from the venue. Now I tell my crew to plan for an extra 45 minutes on any downtown delivery, no exceptions. How do you guys build in buffer time for events?

Used to just add 20 minutes to my delivery window, figured that was enough. A similar thing happened with a graduation party setup downtown, traffic was a total mess and we cut it way too close. Now I check the city event calendar and add a full hour for any job near the center of town. That extra time has saved my butt more than once.

That's not a city event calendar, it's a traffic app.

It's like what @valwest said, we all learn to pad our schedules the hard way.
