Found the same thing when my dryer kept stopping mid cycle. Watched three different videos that made the belt replacement look easy, but none mentioned the weird clip hiding under the motor mount. Ended up having to just feel around blind for an hour until my finger found it. What saved me was finding a written forum post from like 2012 where some guy described that exact clip in a rant. Now I always look for the old text posts or comments under the video where people ask questions. Those hidden details are usually buried there.

Honestly the idea of feeling around blind for an hour just for some weird clip makes me angry. They design these things knowing regular people will try to fix them, then hide the most important part. It's always one little piece of plastic or metal that isn't in any video. I've wasted whole afternoons on stuff like that, and finding some old comment is the only thing that helps.

Feel around for the manufacturer's secret handshake.
