My kitchen drawer went from a noisy mess to silent in about an hour
For months, the bottom drawer under my oven would screech and stick every single time I opened it. I figured the whole slide mechanism was shot and I'd need to replace it. I finally pulled it all the way out yesterday afternoon and found the real problem: a thick layer of old flour and crumbs had packed into the metal runner on the cabinet side. I scraped it out with a flathead screwdriver and a damp cloth, then wiped down the plastic wheels on the drawer itself. After I put a tiny bit of plain petroleum jelly on the clean metal track, the difference was instant. It glides out smooth and quiet now, no wobble. I can't believe I almost ordered a whole new slide kit for a twenty cent fix. Has anyone else had a simple clean-out save a supposedly broken piece of hardware?

Your drawer just needed a spa day, not surgery. It's funny how often the fix is just cleaning out the gunk we ignore. Makes you wonder what else in the house is just dirty, not broken, right?
