I finally tried that new 'self-leveling' post mix on a job in Springfield
It cost me $80 for two bags and ended up setting way too fast in the heat, ruining three posts before I could get them plumb. Now I'm back to the old reliable stuff and out the cash. Do you think these quick-set products are ever worth the risk, or should we just stick with what we know works?

Remember my buddy tried a quick-set mix on a fence line last July. He lost a whole morning's work because it hardened in the bucket, which totally backs up what @caleb_bell heard on that podcast. Sometimes the old way is just cheaper and smarter in the long run.

Yeah but what about when it rains hard right after you pour? Had a neighbor who did his whole driveway with quick-set stuff last spring. Looked great for about two weeks. Then a storm hit. Water pooled under the slab and it cracked to hell. He had to tear it all out. Cost him double in the end. That old mix you can work slow and steady. Let it cure proper. @caleb_bell probably heard that on the same podcast because it's the kind of hard lesson nobody talks about until it happens to you.
