That time I tried a hoof stand vs. just holding the leg up for a whole day

Had a big job at a ranch near Boise last month, 12 horses to do. For the first three I was stubborn and just held each leg up like I always have. My back was screaming by horse four. Switched to my portable stand and finished the other nine without a single ache. Why did I ever think the old way was fine? Anyone else have a tool they fought against that turned out to be a lifesaver?

Been there, done that, and my back still remembers. I fought using a stand for years, told myself it was faster to just muscle through. Then I had a week with a dozen draft horses and realized I was being dumb. The stand isn't just about comfort, it lets you focus on the work instead of fighting to hold weight. My only regret is not buying one ten years sooner.

Honestly seems like a lot of fuss for a tool. My back's fine after a full day, just gotta lift with your legs, right? Maybe some folks just have a weaker core.
