I decided to return a wallet I found in a parking lot with $80 inside, but the owner offered me a $20 reward and I'm not sure if I should have taken it.

After I handed it back, the guy pulled out a twenty and said 'for your honesty,' and now I'm stuck wondering if accepting it somehow made the whole good deed less pure, or if refusing would have been rude, so what's the right call there?

That twenty was just a thank you, it doesn't change you doing the right thing.

But does a thank you need cash to be real?
