Finally got a stubborn PS5 HDMI port to take solder after three tries

I was debating between using more flux or switching to a lower temp iron. Went with the lower temp, 315 degrees Celsius, and it worked perfectly on the fourth tiny ball of solder. Anyone have a go-to temp for those finicky modern HDMI pads?

315 is way lower than I usually go for those. What kind of solder are you using, leaded or lead-free? That makes a huge difference for the temp you need.

Ever wonder if the board itself is pulling heat away faster than expected? A cheap or worn out tip can't transfer heat right even at higher settings. Some of these new flux cores act weird if you don't match the temp to their specific boiling point too. Maybe it's not just the solder type but everything working against the iron at once.
