Appreciation post: I keep seeing guys use the wrong torque on aluminum lugs

Some crews crank them down like they're steel and others barely tighten them, but the spec sheet says 50 in-lbs for the 3/8 inch ones we use. Which way do you do it and why?

You mentioned the spec sheet, but I've seen those get lost or ignored on a busy site. The real problem is nobody wants to be the one who strips the threads, so they guess.
